Abstract
La metodología de enseñanza y aprendizaje aula invertida ha revolucionado la docencia de todos los niveles académicos por su integración de aprendizaje activo, que bajo una visión constructivista permite al estudiante empoderarse en su proceso de aprendizaje en niveles altos de conocimiento. Este ensayo revisa los principios que rigen la estrategia discurriendo sobre sus beneficios, retos al docente, rol del estudiante, planificación e implementación efectiva. Se proveen elementos importantes para el docente novato y experimentado en la implementación de la metodología de aula invertida.

Abstract
The flipped classroom teaching and learning methodology has revolutionized teaching at all academic levels due to its integration of active learning under a constructivist vision that allows the student to empower themselves in their learning process at high levels of knowledge. This essay reviews the principles that rule the strategy, discussing its benefits, challenges for the teacher, role of the student, planning, and effective implementation. Important elements are provided, to the novice and experienced teacher, for the implementation of the flipped classroom methodology.
