Sense of suffering in socially invisible abused women

Abstract

Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo comprender el sentido del sufrimiento en mujeres abusadas invisibilizadas socialmente. Se realizó dentro del paradigma interpretativo, con una metodología cualitativa fundamentada en el método fenomenológico. Participaron cinco mujeres venezolanas víctimas de abuso con omisión de denuncias, entre los 28 y 65 años de edad, oriundas de zona rural de Venezuela. Para la recolección de datos se utilizó la entrevista a profundidad interpretada a través del método hermenéutico-dialéctico, la categorización y la triangulación de expertos. Se obtuvieron ocho categorías que permitieron comprender que el sentido que las mujeres abusadas invisibilizadas le dan al sufrimiento es como catalizador de cambio y como inherente a la vida; tal significación depende de su recursividad femenina. Sin embargo, factores como el matricentrismo, la dominación masculina, la indolencia familiar y la concepción de la muerte; pueden imposibilitar la gestión de esos recursos, ya que alteran la subjetividad de estas mujeres y su interpretación de la realidad.

Abstract

This research aimed to understand the meaning of suffering in socially invisible abused women. It was carried out within the interpretative paradigm, with a qualitative methodology based on the phenomenological method. Five Venezuelan women victims of abuse with omission of complaints participated, between the ages of 28 and 65, from rural areas of Venezuela. For data collection, the in-depth interview interpreted through the hermeneutic-dialectical method, categorization and triangulation of experts was used. Eight categories were obtained that allowed us to understand that the meaning that invisible abused women give to suffering is as a catalyst for change and as inherent to life; such significance depends on its feminine recursiveness. However, factors such as matricentrism, male domination, family indolence and the conception of death; can make it impossible to manage these resources, since they alter the subjectivity of these women and their interpretation of reality.
